Giving Charity In The New Year

blog 2020 ways to give

As we start the 2020 New Year, you have probably thought about your own resolutions. We humbly ask that you consider giving back with charity. When you give back, you can cause chain reactions of goodness. We like to think of it as your gift coming full circle. Thanks to supporters like you, we can establish long-term development projects that ensure individual and community growth.

Ways that you can give back to the greater global community this year:

Water

All life is made from water. It is a critical resource we need to survive. Yet, millions around the world don’t have access to safe, clean water. Giving access to clean water is considered “Charity Ever-flowing,” Sadaqah Jariyah. This means that your gift of water with our Water Program will continue to flow blessings even long after your death.

Give someone the gift of water.

Education

An education can help break the cycle of poverty. By offering inclusive and equitable quality education, you not only enrich the person, you help enrich an entire community. That is why when you educate a person, it is considered “Charity Ever-flowing,” Sadaqah Jariyah. In our Education Program, we strive to educate all: the orphan, widow, displaced, refugee, and impoverished; women and men, young and old.

Food Security

A quarter of the world’s population don’t have access to nutritious foods. Food security means having physical and economic access to nutritious food that meets dietary needs for a productive and healthy life. Through projects in our Food Security Program such as our cassava cooperatives in Ghana, animal husbandry programs, farming programs in Gaza, and more, we can help bring food security to millions.

Emergency Relief

When a community is affected by warfare, climate, or natural disaster, we are on the ground to help as much as we can. We use your gifts to our Emergency Relief Program to give life-saving relief in the form of nutritious food, protective shelter, bedding, clothing, and more. From the suffering civilians in Idlib to the crisis in Kashmir, we are right there offering people the support they need.

Orphan Care

No one can imagine the devastation of losing a parent. However, losing a parent during your critical childhood years means the loss is even greater. So many children who lose a parent’s love and support just don’t have the resources they need to flourish. Our Orphan Care Program offers food, education, hygiene, and other urgent aid to orphans so that they have the support they need to thrive.

Health and Wellbeing

Access to life-saving medicines and mental health resources for all is a right, not a privilege. The purpose of our Health and Wellbeing Program is to assist people afflicted with war, famine, and natural disasters. They have endured tremendous hardship, trauma, abuse and emotional injury.

We are committed to ground-breaking, culturally significant efforts to raise the importance of mental health challenges — and stereotypes — among our beneficiary communities.

Refugee Empowerment

Our Refugee Program empowers refugees to rebuild their lives and thrive. From rebuilding homes in Gaza, sponsoring homes in Syria, and more, we assist refugees in their healing process.

Livelihoods

Your gifts mean the world to so many who need it with our Livelihoods Program. We work to empower beneficiaries to gain stability and self-reliance with vocational and entrepreneurial training. We have been blessed to help thousands (especially women) uplift themselves, their families, and their communities to financial independence, better health and nutrition, and quality education.

Give the gift of resilience to those who need it most.

Seasonal Islamic Giving

There are certain times of year where giving makes a bigger impact. The times during Ramadan and Hajj are filled with blessings and we are encouraged to give. The last ten days are filled with mercy and forgiveness. Paying your zakat or making a charitable donation to our Seasonal Islamic Giving Program during these times are an investment in your own grace with God.

No matter what program you choose, your gift will transform the lives of those who need it most. We sincerely thank you for supporting our organization and beneficiaries around the world. We hope you are blessed for the coming year.
