Devastation Mounts After Twin Earthquakes in Venezuela
Zakat Foundation of America is executing an emergency response effort, following the devastating twin earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitudes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24, 2026. The powerful quakes, which hit just seconds apart, caused massive destruction across Yaracuy, La Guaira, Caracas, and surrounding areas, leaving over 900 dead, thousands injured, and hundreds of thousands affected.
As of June 26th, 2026, our team:
Is working with local partners and authorities to assess and respond to the most urgent needs
Has committed at least $50,000 in relief aid towards emergency medicines, medical supplies and hygiene kits
Is deploying experienced doctors and nurses
Is coordinating with local authorities and partner organizations to provide emergency medical care, medicines, and essential relief supplies
Has committed to ongoing relief including recovery and reconstruction
