Devastation Mounts After Twin Earthquakes in Venezuela
Zakat Foundation of America is executing an emergency response effort, following the devastating twin earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitudes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24, 2026. The powerful quakes caused widespread devastation across Yaracuy, La Guaira, Caracas, and surrounding regions, resulting in a rising death toll, thousands of injuries, and massive displacement affecting large numbers of people.
As of July 16th, 2026, our team:
Has directly benefited over 11,000 people through partner-led relief in Caracas and La Guaira
Has shipped 115+ tons of medical, food, and shelter supplies into Venezuela
Has deployed 70+ doctors across 9 emergency medical missions
Is running a soup kitchen and shelter in Caracas, reaching 200–250 people daily in Catia la Mar
Has begun rehabilitation planning for damaged schools and homes
