Laylatul Qadr is a special night in Ramadan during which Muslims seek to maximize the spiritual benefits of their prayers, fasting and charity.
But what is the significance of Laylatul Qadr and when is Laylatul Qadr 2024 expected to occur in Ramadan 2024?

The Importance of Laylatul Qadr
Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein do the angels and the Spirit [Gabriel] descend, by the permission of their Lord, with every [divine] command” (Surat Al-Qadr, 97:3-4).
In the Quran, Laylatul Qadr is hailed as an especially blessed time of spiritual presence and angelic protection.
Additionally, the Prophet, on him be peace, clarified that Laylatul Qadr’s blessed status also has an impact on the blessings of a Muslim’s actions, including prayer:
And whoever spends the night of Laylatul Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven” (Sunan an-Nasa’i).
Taking this information literally, the spiritual benefits of Laylatul Qadr outweigh the blessings of a thousand months, or 83 years. This is a great opportunity for Muslims to prepare for and take advantage of with their prayers, charity and good deeds this Ramadan 2024.

The Timing of Laylatul Qadr 2024
Look for Laylatul Qadr in the last 10 nights of Ramadan, on the night when nine or seven or five nights remain out of the last 10 nights of Ramadan (the 21st, 23rd and 25th, respectively).” (Bukhari).
The Prophet, on him be peace, advised the Muslims in multiple ahadith to seek Laylatul Qadr during the last 10 nights of Ramadan, especially those occurring on odd dates.
In one narration, he also suggested the night occurs on exactly the 27th night of Ramadan:
Laylatul Qadr is the 27th night (of Ramadan)” (Abu Dawud).
While we cannot know for certain when this blessed night will fall, the current timing of Ramadan 2024 puts the 27th night as the evening of Friday, April 5th, 2024.
