More Than a Meal

Twelve-year-old Yasin Mohamed from Sudan, an orphan raised in a group home, has faced life without family and with few comforts. Eid was once just another day: no meat, no celebration, only reminders of what was missing. But when Zakat Foundation of America’s Udhiyah-Qurbani program reached his orphanage, everything changed. For the first time, Yasin and his friends shared a joyful Eid meal. The meat didn’t just nourish their bodies, it uplifted their spirits. “It made us feel seen,” Yasin said. Through one simple act of giving, Yasin felt dignity, belonging, and hope.
