Bangladesh: For Fazila Begum, Eid-ul-Adha brought a moment of relief she had been waiting for all year. Living in a fragile riverside home with her aging husband, the couple struggles to make ends meet. With their children grown and supporting families of their own, meat had become an unaffordable luxury. On Eid morning, Fazila prepared a simple meal and hoped for the best. Then our team arrived with a Qurbani meat package. Overcome with emotion, she carefully prepared the meat and shared it with her husband, savoring a meal they might otherwise have gone without. Yemen: In an old neighborhood of Sayun, Umm Sami, a widow in her forties, is raising five children alone in a small mud home. Since her husband passed away, she has relied on occasional cleaning work to survive, and Eid has quietly become one of the hardest days of the year—passing without meat, while her children watched neighbors celebrate in abundance. This Eid al-Adha, there was a knock at the door. Our team stood outside with a meat pack, offering a simple greeting: Eid Mubarak. In that moment, what had been a day of absence became a moment of relief, dignity, and shared joy for her family.
