I will talk to you in this blog about one of the orphans sponsored by the American Zakat in Gaza and her name is Sundus, who is no more than six years old and she lives in Gaza City. Sundus lost her father during the war that occurred on Gaza in the summer of 2014 AD, Sundus lost her support and her shepherd, which was like everything in her life. The smile was stolen from her lips by losing her father. She was deprived of her lowest rights, which is to live freely like the rest of the children of the free world and alongside her parents in safety, security and peace. This is what Sundus wants, bitter and difficult moments that Sundus has lived through, as her mother says. She saw missiles, bullets, shelling and destruction with her own eyes, for she was not yet three years old at the time, so instead of being between her toys, doll and friends, she was among the rubble, shelling, destruction and fear, this is how all children of besieged Gaza live.
The Sondos family consists of eight members, four of whom are sponsored by other parties. Sondos joined the sponsorship program at the American Zakat Foundation.
Regarding her ambitions and wishes, Sundus wished to complete her university studies to become a doctor and treat people for free, and be able to provide all her school supplies, and to increase the financial guarantee to be able to provide the minimum necessities of daily life, especially in light of the difficult and bitter conditions in Gaza, where the poverty rate exceeded 40% and the percentage of 80% of those receiving aid, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor.
The Zakat Association is responsible for securing the needs of orphans from the people of Gaza by providing them with a monthly guarantee and including them with our seasonal programs such as winter clothing, sacrificial animals, stationery and food parcels in Ramadan.
