New York, NY — Zakat Foundation of America will distribute 1,200 bags of rice, totaling 13,200 pounds, across Queens and Kings Counties in New York and the state of Delaware from September 11th through September 18th, providing critical relief to families struggling with the rising cost of groceries.
These distributions will take place at nine locations throughout Saint Albans, Jamaica, Hollis, and Brooklyn in New York, as well as Claymont, Wilmington, and Newark in Delaware, in partnership with local mosques, community centers, and outreach organizations.
With the cost of groceries continuing to outpace family budgets, many households in these communities are having to weigh basic needs like rent and utilities against having enough food on the table. This distribution aims to lighten that load and offer tangible support to neighbors during a difficult stretch.
