Zakat Sends a New Aid Truck to Puerto Rico
The Zakat Foundation of America packed and sent a new truck carrying 1,000 parcels of food and hygiene items to victims of the hurricane that struck the island of Puerto Rico and left massive damage. The sent parcels contain canned food, pills, brushes, toothpastes and bath soap.
Zakat, with the help of volunteers, last week, at its Chicago headquarters, packed parcels to help the afflicted on the island as a result of the loss of electricity and the lack of food and drinking water, as citizens began drinking contaminated well water. As a result of the geographic location of the island, this slows down the relief operations. Therefore, Zakat has taken upon itself to continue helping the island until it returns to its normal state.
