Zakat Foundation of America participated in the Muslim American Society (MAS) convention in Milwaukee along with numerous other prominent Muslim organizations from April 3rd through the 5th. MAS encourages active involvement in communities across the U.S. by providing many opportunities for volunteering, interfaith initiatives, civic engagement and youth programs.

The highlights of the event included a number of inspirational speakers who debated different topics, ranging from how to discuss Islam with colleagues and neighbors to break the ice about sensitive issues to the subject of wearing hijab in America and what it means for women who have embraced this tradition. The convention also featured many activities for children and youth where Zakat Foundation of America staff member, Abdelhamid Omran, spoke about the organization’s work and the different ways young people can contribute and get involved to stay connected to their community and faith.

The MAS-Milwaukee convention was a great opportunity for Zakat Foundation of America to build and strengthen ties with the Muslim community outside of the Chicago area.
