Most high school freshmen are focused on “fitting in” - having a lot of friends, dressing like their favorite celebrity, or gaining a mass following on Instagram. And then there are some kids who are just too cool for any of that. The freshmen class at Rockford Iqra School from Rockford, Illinois organized a fundraising dinner with Zakat Foundation of America and in a single night, they raised $15,000 to build five water wells in communities around the world who do not have access to clean water. According to the United Nations, over one fifth of the world's population (over a billion people) struggle with water scarcity. So a message to the youth: your #ootd (outfit of the day) post may get 100 likes, but imagine the impact if you and your friends came together to donate a water well on the other side of the world.
