Zakat Foundation of America marked the Eid holiday by donating fresh meat to needy families in Chicago, Delaware, Baltimore, New Jersey, New York, D.C. and Philadelphia.
In Chicago, Zakat Foundation of America distributed the meat of two cows and 12 goats on Eid to local mosques and organizations that then disbursed the five pound packages to families that had requested the extra help.
Zakat Foundation of America partnered with eight organizations during this year’s meat drive. Zakat Foundation of America provided each organization with enough meat to feed 30 families. The Zakat Foundation of America office in Chicago will distribute meat to two more organizations in the Chicago area next week.
The Zakat Foundation of America East Coast office, which is using the freezers of local restaurants, distributed about 1,700 pounds of meat to individuals and homeless shelters in Delaware, Baltimore, New Jersey, New York, D.C. and Philadelphia who had requested help during the Eid holiday season. Zakat Foundation of America's East Coast office will continue to donate meat until the supply is exhausted.
