Palos 118 Student Fundraiser Nets over $3100 for Earthquake Relief

Palos 118 student councils collected over $3100 during a March fundraiser to benefit those impacted by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

Members of all three Palos 118 school’s student councils collected over $3100 during a March fundraiser to benefit those impacted by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

In addition, students at Palos East and West Elementary and Palos South Middle School also collected another 25 boxes of essential supplies that will also be donated to the humanitarian relief efforts. Donated items included tents, sleeping bags, blankets, and other necessities like diapers, socks, hats, and gloves.

All funds and items were donated to the Zakat Foundation of America, a non-profit which is coordinating relief efforts for those impacted by the earthquakes.

I’m continually impressed by the generosity of our students and school community who are always willing to step up and support those in need wherever they may live,” said Dr. Scarsella.
