Haiti
For over 15 years, Nerlande has faced the daily uncertainty of life, selling coffee on the streets to support her son and grandson. Some days, she earns nothing at all. Yet through Zakat Foundation of America’s Food Security program, she finds stability and dignity. The daily meal eases her hunger, lifts financial pressure, and restores her spirit. What began in a church rectory now sustains hundreds, proving that even in hardship, hope can be served.
Dominican Republic
Ángel Luis once faced isolation, unemployment, and learning challenges that limited his future. With few financial resources, he longed for a chance to study and build a career. Through Zakat Foundation of America’s Dental Assistant Training Program, he gained technical skills, mentorship, and renewed confidence. With personalized instruction and unwavering support, he overcame obstacles, mastered new abilities, and now looks toward a stable, independent future filled with dignity and hope.
Colombia
For over a decade, Olga has found strength and purpose at the Maria Cano Carambolas Center in Medellín. Leading the community garden, she empowers over 500 women displaced by conflict to heal and rebuild through cultivation. Together, they transform soil into opportunity, growing herbs, medicinal plants, and hope.
