One of the most beloved people in the world to the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) were orphans. Zakat Foundation of America will continue honoring the legacy of our Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and is planning to expand the orphan sponsorship program (OSP) to include an additional 400 children. There have already been expansions to the OSP in Mali, India, and Syria.
The conflict in Syria and the refugee crisis has increased the vulnerability of millions of children in the Middle East region. Currently, Zakat Foundation of America sponsors over 1,000 children around the world, supporting them with food, shelter, education, and healthcare. By sponsoring a child for only $50 a month, you are not only giving a child the opportunity of a future, but simultaneously purifying your wealth through zakah, or a charitable effort.
