Catastrophic Flash Floods Devastate Nepal
Zakat Foundation of America is responding to the catastrophic glacier collapse and flash floods that struck northern and central Nepal on August 26, 2026. A massive surge of ice, rock, and debris tore down the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli River system, devastating Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Dhading, and Tanahun districts. The death toll continues to rise as thousands remain missing, and hundreds of thousands are affected.
We're working with local partners on the ground to assess urgent needs and mobilize an immediate emergency response, with a commitment to ongoing relief as recovery continues.

Zakat Foundation of America in Nepal
For years, Zakat Foundation of America has served vulnerable communities in Nepal through emergency relief, education, clean water, and orphan care. When floods struck in October 2024, our teams delivered food, tarps, and kitchen supplies to displaced families. Since then, our Food Security program has reached over 65,000 people, our Orphan Care program has supported more than 3,280 children, and our infrastructure work has improved nearly 1,900 lives.
