Chicago, Ill. - Sep 18, 2023 - Zakat Foundation of America, an international NGO, is thrilled to announce a new flagship office located in Houston, Texas, located at 3949 Braxton Ave.
Traditional spaces such as a reception area and offices for staff will host the organizations’ local, national and international initiatives. A large conference room will be open to the staff and the community. In addition, the location will host a food pantry, complete with a full-sized working kitchen as well as community spaces for classes, workshops and meetings. Syed Yousuf (Senior Regional Development Specialist) has been working on the ground alongside design, construction and planning committees to prepare and equip the new office.
“It’s an exciting time,” he says. “We believe our new office in Houston will enable us to weave into the fabric of the Houston community while serving those in need at home and around the world.”
A formal presentation and inauguration of the Houston office will take place Saturday, Sept. 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Houston West Hotel (13210 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX). The dinner will feature delicious food alongside recitations, prayers, videos, speeches, as well as awards and recognition of Houston community leaders. Well-known Muslim comedian Preacher Moss will also deliver a hilarious comedy segment. Zakat Foundation of America’s CEO, Mr. Halil Demir, will deliver a speech. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson and Congressman Al-Green are confirmed to be in attendance. The following day (Sunday, Sept. 10) an open house will take place at the new location for tours open to the public from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. All members of the press are invited to both of these momentous events and can RSVP by emailing [email protected].
