A devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and Syria hard this past week.
With the situation on the ground continuing to unfold, those affected remain vulnerable as they struggle to find necessities and stay warm in freezing temperatures.
Early this past Monday morning, a severe earthquake hit southern Turkey and Syria.
The quake collapsed buildings, destroyed homes and forced those affected to take shelter in their cars in the extreme winter cold.
Since then:
300+ aftershocks have hit the region (largest of 6.6 magnitude)
22,000+ people have been killed
80,000+ people have been injured
These numbers have only continued to rise as rescue teams frantically search for survivors. As the days continue, those trapped under the rubble have less of a chance to survive and the situation for those whose homes have been damaged is uncertain.
Zakat Foundation of America has been on the ground since the start of the earthquake crisis, and we have over 20 years of experience in serving the people of Turkey in particular.
You can help us bring crucial emergency aid to Turkish and Syrian earthquake survivors with the following giving levels:
$35 medical supplies and hygiene kits
$45 tent and floor mat
$50 food pack for a family of 5
$200 food pack for 4 families
Even a small contribution can go a long way and can be the reason someone can stay warm and well-fed in their time of need.
