A devastating 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Afghanistan on August 31, 2025, impacting the Nangarhar and Kunar provinces and triggering multiple aftershocks between 4.3 and 5.2 magnitude near Basawul and Jalalabad. The Afghanistan earthquake 2025 has affected over 12,000 lives, causing widespread destruction and urgent humanitarian needs.
Our team has mobilized to conduct needs assessments and deliver emergency aid to surviving families, while coordinating with authorities to access the hardest-hit areas.

Known to be situated in one of Central Asia’s seismic activity zones, Afghanistan has a history of catastrophic earthquakes.
