Beirut Blast Pushes Lebanon to the Brink

Lebanon has the highest per capita refugee ratio in the world. These families already struggle for food, as the preceding statistics show. High-nutrition foods, like lentils and labneh (a highly concentrated yogurt), stave off starvation. Vegetable and fruit availability is rare. Meat — at $33 a kilo (2.2 lbs.), up 300% from $11 in October 2019 — a few can purchase by the gram. For most, it is unthinkable.

Sadaqah Jariyah – Water

What is Sadaqah Jariyah?

The Short Answer
Sadaqah Jariyah literally translates from its original Arabic as “flowing,” or “running” (jariyah) “charity” (sadaqah), meaning charity that one gives in life that continues to provide charitable benefit to its designated recipients and, therefore, divine reward to its giver, after its donor passes away from this life.

Stories From The Zakat Foundation 9 Myths About Muslim Charities

Fear and mistrust surround Muslim charities in American society. This is neither natural nor an accident. In this book are stories from Zakat Foundation of America’s founding director unraveling blatant myths and fallacies about Islam – and charity – from its defining sources, showing us what’s at stake if we continue to let partisans with self-serving agendas trick us into acting on these fears. A critical read for all who work in, donate to, or concern themselves with the giving world.
