Zakat Foundation of America recently completed the building of a mosque in Malakisi, Kenya, a Muslim village where most people live on less than a dollar a day.
During the opening of the Malakisi Mosque, Zakat Foundation of America was honored for its work in Kenya to bring Muslims in the community closer together. The National Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (Supkem) Alhajj Abdillahi Kiptanui urged Muslims to unify in order to take part in county and national leadership. Kiptanui challenged local Muslims to gain a political presence in Kenya by electing one of their own in the 2017 general elections for presidency.
The local Mayor, Ali Machani urged Muslim organizations to model Zakat Foundation of America in transparency and dedication.
