Zakat Foundation of America in
Rwanda
Response to Humanitarian Crisis
In Rwanda, there are critical humanitarian needs in key areas like healthcare, nutrition, water, sanitation, education, and shelter, especially for vulnerable communities. It is essential to tackle social and economic inequalities, aid refugees, and encourage sustainable development for a more promising future. Zakat Foundation of America supporters have been instrumental in addressing these challenges by constructing or renovating mosques that serve as community hubs. These mosques provide not only places of worship but also serve as centers with schools and libraries. They promote unity, cooperation, and literacy, with a special focus on empowering girls.

Naila
Meet Naila, a 14-year-old student at G S Murambi in S2, Rwanda, with the ambition of becoming an IT engineer. She diligently attends school, helps with chores, completes homework, and pursues her passion for ICT. Naila's widowed mother, Asia Ndaruhuse, faces financial struggles to support their family, but community support and Zakat Foundation's assistance provide relief. Despite challenges, Naila remains dedicated to her education and aspires to fulfill her dream.
Grateful for the unexpected gift, this beneficiary expressed gratitude for the kind gesture. The joy of receiving the animal extends beyond mere ownership, as she anticipates benefiting from the manure for fertilization purposes. Her children, who had watched others raise animals, now have their own to care for. With excitement, they will no longer discard garden grass but feed it to their animals, cherishing the opportunity to have the animals at home. Milk and animal offspring will lead to self sufficiency.
