Response to Humanitarian Crisis
Myanmar, also known as Burma, is a country located in Southeast Asia. With a population of nearly 55 million people, Burma has over 130 different ethnic and religious groups. In recent years, Myanmar has faced many challenges leading to political unrest and gross human rights violations.
The Rohingya, a Muslim minority group residing in Myanmar's Rakhine state, have faced systematic persecution and discrimination by the Myanmar government and the local Buddhist majority. Since 1982 the Rohingya have been denied citizenship, rendering them stateless. In 2017, the situation escalated when the Myanmar Army launched a brutal crackdown on the Rohingya community. Entire villages were razed, forcing hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to flee to neighboring Bangladesh in search of safety.
Bangladesh, already struggling with its own socio-economic challenges, became the unwilling host to one of the largest refugee crises in the world. The influx of Rohingya refugees has strained the country's resources, leading to overcrowded and underfunded refugee camps, with families, women and children living in dire conditions. Despite international condemnation and appeals for justice, the Rohingya crisis remains unresolved, with the Myanmar government refusing to recognize the rights and humanity of the Rohingya people.

Creating Hope for the Marginalized
Rafeeq
Mohammed Rafeeq, a 31-year-old Rohingya refugee in Hyderabad, India, lives with his wife and three children in a bamboo shelter. Unable to afford warm clothing due to his low-paying, irregular work, the family struggled through a harsh winter, with the children vulnerable to illness. With your support, we stepped in, providing Rafeeq's family with a Winter Relief package that included warm blankets, jackets, and shawls. This assistance helped protect them from the cold, ensuring their safety and well-being. Rafeeq’s family can now face the winter with warmth, hope, and renewed strength.
