Response to Humanitarian Crisis
Humanitarian needs in the region continue to be shaped by climate-related shocks and economic vulnerability. In late 2025 and early 2026, heavy rainfall caused localized flooding across parts of Albania, damaging infrastructure and disrupting livelihoods, particularly in coastal and northern areas. While these events did not result in mass displacement or famine, they underscored ongoing risks linked to climate change and poverty. In response, the Zakat Foundation of America supports food security and community resilience through Seasonal Islamic Giving programs. During Ramadan, we provide hot iftar meals and food packages to families in need, and through Udhiyah-Qurbani, distribute nutritious meat to vulnerable households, helping communities meet essential needs during times of increased strain.
