In Minneapolis, a quiet army of generosity gains strength

The sheer scope of support, pouring in from Minnesota and the nation, has surprised and relieved exhausted Minneapolis communities. A refrigerated truck carrying 18 tons of fresh produce rolled into a Cub Foods parking lot Tuesday, a gift from the Zakat Foundation, a Muslim charity based in Chicago.

House of Mercy, Zakat Foundation Partner to Distribute 40,000 Pounds of Potatoes

On Monday, May 18, the Zakat Foundation generously donated the entire truckload to ensure those in need in our area have some fresh produce this week. House of Mercy staff and volunteers unloaded the truck and distributed about 85% of those to about 11 neighboring food pantries.
