Warming Hearts and Saving Lives
Bagrami District, Afghanistan
Aqlema, a widow with four lives depending on her, scrubs floors and cleans other people's homes each day just to keep her children fed, while carrying complications she never asked for and burdens no one should carry. Our team arrived with heating fuel to fight back the winter cold. For Aqlema, it meant more than warmth. It meant her family would make it through the season, and that somewhere, someone had not forgotten her.
Khanewal, Pakistan
Elderly and alone, Abdul Kareem faced winter with no stable income or sense of security. Thin, worn-out clothes offered little protection against the severe cold, leaving him vulnerable to illness each freezing night. Then, through our Winter Relief program, he received a winter kit with warm blankets, shawls, and clothing to shield him from the harsh weather. For Abdul Kareem, it meant peaceful, restful sleep after so many winters and now a season faced with dignity instead of fear.
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Since her husband disappeared into Syria, Fouza carries the full weight of raising three children in a fragile refugee tent. She collects plastic from the trash to sell for bread, forced to choose nightly between food and fuel, while her infant's small body struggles against the cold. Then, through our Winter Relief program, Fouza received a heater and fuel. For her family, it meant warmth, safety, and proof that compassion still exists and that they are not alone.
