An earthquake in Morocco and a flood in Libya killed thousands. Chicagoans are working to provide aid and resources for survivors.
On September 8, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake devastated major cities in Western Morocco. The death toll is close to 3,000 and thousands more have been injured. Days later, dams broke in Libya, leading to massive flooding that has killed more than 2,000 people.
