Saturday, September 29, Zakat Foundation of America sponsored a local event at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, IL to raise money for humanitarian relief efforts in Syria.
Alhumdulillah, over 500 people came out and joined us on the beautiful, sunny day and everyone was in high spirits.
The day started out with speeches about the current situation in Syria by respected leaders including:
Safaa Zarzour, ISNA Secretary General
Sheikh Jamal Said, Imam & Director of the Mosque Foundation
Dr. Talal Sunbulli, president, SAC national
Dr. Hatem Bazian, chairman, AMP
Dr. Zaher Sahloul, chairman, CIOGC
Sheikh Kifah Mustapha, Imam of Mosque Foundation
Zakat Foundation of America Executive Director, Khalil Demir, also spoke about the current situation in Syria while showing a video about the work Zakat Foundation of America has done in Syria and for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.
Singer Yahya Hawwa also performed, singing Syrian national songs. The people in attendance all came from different backgrounds, including Palestinians, Indians and Turkish, but on Saturday they all came together to support the people of Syria.

This Saturday, September 29, Zakat Foundation of America is sponsoring an event at Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview for the people of Syria.
Entry is free and the event will take place outdoors at 7360 W. 93rd St., Bridgeview, IL 60455.
There will be performers and speakers including:
Yahya Hawwa (Singer)
Safaa Zarzour, ISNA Secretary General
Sheikh Jamal Said, Imam & Director of the Mosque Foundation

The event will include vendors selling food, Syrian memorabilia and much more.
All proceeds from the event will be going to Zakat Foundation of America.
