To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s march through Marquette Park on Chicago’s South Side, Zakat Foundation of America joined a coalition of religious, political, and community organizations for the 1,000 Mile March.
The celebrations included the unveiling of a new monument dedicated to MLK, and was followed by Takin It To The Streets, an urban music festival organized by Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). Zakat Foundation of America was proud to be one of the main sponsors of the festival and was present at the event to raise awareness about the current backpack distribution campaign.
