Fall Community Fair

Zakat Foundation of AmericaCCC Hosts Fall Community Fair

The Zakat Foundation Community Center Chicago (Zakat Foundation of AmericaCCC), located in Chicago’s South Shore community, hosted its Annual Fall Community Fair, distributing winter outfits and Thanksgiving turkeys.

Zakat Foundation of AmericaCCC teamed up with Walgreens and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) to provide flu shots and lead a discussion of healthy nutrition habits and winter safety. One grandmother hugged a set of infant-sized outerwear and gushed about being able to give these gifts to her grandchildren.

The winter months in Chicago can be bitterly cold, especially in inner-city neighborhoods where older homes and apartment buildings are often ill-equipped to keep the cold out. And families living on a thin margin frequently cannot afford the many layers of boots, sweaters, coats, scarves and hats needed to make the walk to school or the “El” train station safe and tolerable.

To bring warmth and security to an inner-city family, donate a winter kit for distribution at the Zakat Foundation of AmericaCCC today.
