One of the joys of Ramadan is reconnecting with family and friends over iftar (dinner). The iftar is the meal Muslims eat at the end of their daylong fast, and it’s often associated with delicious food. This past week, Zakat Foundation of America hosted its annual iftar to celebrate the blessed month of Ramadan by inviting longtime supports and partnering organizations.
The dinner took place at the Unity Center, a community hall attached to Zakat Foundation of America’s headquarter office in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. More than 200 people attended, including members from the Turkish Consulate, as well as local prominent social and religious leaders.
Guests piled their plates with authentic Mediterranean cuisine catered by Al-Bawadi. After the meal, Zakat Foundation of America’s Outreach team presented a brief screening of the upcoming Zakat Foundation of America volunteer film, which will premier at next month’s volunteer dinner.
