As we approach Eid al-Adha, we reflect on the strength that comes from unity. Muslim women and men from around the world spend time with their loved ones. And as we come together, we must remember what we have done through our combined efforts.
It all starts with the generosity and support of our donors. Through their gratuitous donations, Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) was able to provide more than 7.67 million meals throughout more than 40 countries during Ramadan this year.
For Hind, an orphaned Syrian refugee living in Jordan with her grandmother, ZF’s food distributions mean the world. Hind and her brother are in elementary school, but they struggle to cover school expenses. The Ramadan food packages help offset the cost and ensure Hind and her brother are well-nourished.
“Each time something comes up like Ramadan, Eid, school or winter, I feel very frustrated about how I’m going to handle the situation,” Hind’s grandmother said. “When you call me, I get very happy that God sent you to us.
But we don’t stop there. Though Ramadan has ended, ZF will still be providing fresh, nutritious food to beneficiaries in more than 40 countries. This time, it is for Udhiya/Qurbani.
ZF works with locals in different countries to distribute fresh meat in celebration of Eid al-Adha. This year, ZF has added Rwanda and Yemen to the list of countries receiving Udhiya/Qurbani distributions. ZF will sacrifice sheep, if possible. If not possible, we will substitute a cow or buffalo for every seven Udhiya/Qurbani shares. Prices reflect per-share cost.
ZF will perform Udhiya/Qurbani in requested countries until per-country quotas are met, after which point distributions will be performed in countries with the greatest need.
