Fasting Forward Unites Community Against Violence

Chicago has once again endured another violent summer as gun violence only increased on its streets. However, community organizers and activists remain resilient to reclaim their neighborhoods and ensure safety for their children.

Recently, Zakat Foundation of America joined a peace march organized by the Saint Sabina Church located in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Reverend Father Michael Pfleger led the march alongside 79th street, attracting many community members to join as well.

Afterwards, dinner was provided by Zakat Foundation of America and served inside the church where many of the community members were observing a day of fasting in solidarity with those affected by violence.
