Abu Dhabi Students Host Fundraiser For Water Wells

After returning from Kenya on a humanitarian trip, many of the students at the American School in Abu Dhabi (AISA) witnessed first-hand how devastating water scarcity can be - an issue affecting over a billion worldwide. Every year, AISA requires the students to complete a service project and this year they decided to create water sources that could provide clean drinking water. The students came up with the idea of a “well fair,” a carnival themed event with rides and games where all proceeds would go towards the construction of water wells.

“I was beyond proud of all of them for planning and executing this event themselves,” said Islam Ali, a highschool teacher at AISA. By the end of the event, the students had gathered enough to build two water wells.

“The well fair was an event that I was ecstatic to be a part of,” said Rumail, an 11th grade student at AISA. “I always dreamed of the day where I was in a situation to give back. I am glad that I was able to help make a difference, no matter how small it was.”
