2013 Student Service Trip

Zakat Foundation of America Service Trips offer life-changing opportunities that educate, inspire, and produce active global citizens by connecting students with Zakat Foundation of America’s sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives in underdeveloped countries around the world.

In the summer of 2013, Zakat Foundation of America took a group of students from the USA on a service-immersion trip to Ghana West Africa where they joined hands with local villagers to work at a cassava farm cooperative, construct water wells while learning about the global water crisis, exchange cultural programs with Ghanaian school children, build communities through hands-on masjid construction projects, take daily local language lessons, serve at an Ivorian refugee camp, hike a national rainforest reserve, practice traditional kente cloth weaving, explore historic museums including slave forts used in the transatlantic slave trade, and so much more.
