Emine Fadda Elementary School in Turkey
Development
In southeastern Turkey, where seventy (70) children were crammed into a single classroom, there was a desperate need for better educational facilities. In some villages, there were no local schools and children had to travel long distances every day to get their education.
The Zakat Foundation responded to this need by establishing the Emine Fadda Elementary School in Southeastern Turkey in the Spring of 2007, to help the poor gain access to a good education. This school provides a complete, standard curriculum from 1st thru 8th grades, and houses several hundred students, with a capacity for 500 students to study in the school. This is a big change for the village, because students no longer have to walk miles every day to school.
Zakat Foundation believes that education is a basic human right, especially for kids. The school development and education project is a big opportunity for the region to educate the next generation.
We thank all donors who allowed us to build a school that gives so many opportunities to thousands of needy students.
