In 2011, as unemployment and poverty reached highs, many Yemenis took the streets in opposition towards government. Inspired by other protests in the region, the Yemeni protests began as peaceful opposition towards government; however, as security forces instituted violence towards civilians so did civilians. There have been several casualties in Yemen many of whom were innocent civilians.
Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) has introduced Yemen as one of the many countries under Humanitarian Response to the Middle East Campaign. ZF is fully committed to providing relief to the people of Yemen.
