Cyclone Nargis Relief in Myanmar
Emergency Relief
The Cyclone Nargis that hit the shores of Myanmar has devastated vast populated areas across the south of the country. The scale of destruction and loss is massive. There are alarming reports of entire villages destroyed, their populations missing.
Those who survived are still at risk of contracting malaria and water-borne diseases. Zakat Foundation is working with the Red Cross of Myanmar and the Red Crescent of Bangladesh and Malaysia to administer emergency aid and to organize food distribution around the affected towns and villages.
The UN has warned that the death toll exceeds 100,000, and that many more may die unless vital aid reaches some 1.5 million survivors. Zakat Foundation has pledged $122,500 for Emergency Relief by supporting 1,000 families. We urge you to help the people of Myanmar. A donation $250 will provide 10 families with what they need to survive and each donation of $25 provides one family with food and clean water.
