The Zakat Foundation of America

(Bridgeview, IL 9/2/2010) Zakat Foundation maintains its ongoing commitment to help ease the suffering of the poor and disaster-stricken people of Pakistan. Since its establishment in 2001, Zakat Foundation has been actively helping the needy of Pakistan through orphan sponsorships seasonal food distributions, supporting schools for refugees and emergency relief operations during the 2005 and 2008 earthquakes and 2009 Swat Valley conflicts.

News of the Pakistani flood crisis mobilized our donors and as a result Zakat Foundation has readied materials for a shipping container to be sent to Pakistan immediately. The container will packed with hygiene products, medical supplies, culturally appropriate clothing for children and adults, blankets, and backpacks filled with school supplies and toys for children on September 3, 2010 at 9 am at the Zakat Foundation Social Services warehouse facility.

The Container will be received by Zakat Foundation representative currently on the ground in Pakistan who will distribute the goods to the needy and vulnerable in the flood affected areas.
