The School of Unity for Scholastic Advancement (SUSA) has been in session since April 2010 and has been providing the Chicago Suburban South Side Community with support and education in a variety of ways.

SUSA is currently located in Bridgeview, Illinois and is educating and empowering adults to further their education in order to assist them in providing a better life for their families and themselves.

In an economy that has been in financial turmoil, adults must equip themselves with priceless assets that will pave the way for success and security. The only asset that cannot be taken away in today's society is education.

SUSA is now offering multiple classes consisting of English Language classes that will assist English Language Learners (ELL) in acquiring the conversing, grammar, reading, and writing skills that employers today demand and a literate society yearns for.

SUSA will be offering the following ELL classes this Fall of 2010: Survival ELL, ELL 1, ELL 2, ELL 3, and several ELL Workshops focusing on building specific English Language skills. These classes are multi-cultural and multifaceted in individualizing and differentiating instruction. The ELL program is focused on assisting and supporting English Language Learners to apply what they learn in each class immediately, while simultaneously and consistently building on those skills.

SUSA will also be offering several Citizenship classes specifically for students who are in the process of becoming United States citizens. These classes will focus on the foundation of the United States, United States History and Government, and the study and conversing skills needed in becoming a United States citizen. Students who take this course are more confident and prepared to take the Citizenship Exam and pass, Alhamdullah.

A new program that has been introduced is the GED Program. SUSA understands that everyone can have the chance to enhance their lives through education. The GED program is the first step for those who want a change and a brighter future.

This concentrated course meets once a week and will prepare students to take and pass the GED exam. Many adults today want to go to college, but have not had the chance to complete their schooling. SUSA's GED program will guide students towards passing the GED exam and furthering their education afterwards.

The last addition SUSA has implemented is Career Workshops. These one or two day workshops target specific employment and career building skills such as: Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Job Skills, Job Searching Strategies, Business Etiquette, and Interview Preparation.

The Citizenship, GED, and Career Workshops require students to be proficient in the English Language in order to succeed.

SUSA is growing fast and welcomes all support from its' community. Together SUSA and supporters will make a difference. Education is the key to an abundance of opportunities. Insha'Allah, with the support and participation of this community, adults can take the next step with SUSA. Let us work together to make dreams, with faith in Allah (SWT), a wonderful reality.
