Afghanistan has the highest infant mortality rate in the world, making it the most dangerous country for a child to be born in. The people of Afghanistan have been caught in civil conflicts for over three decades.
Concerns about security have restricted many children, particularly girls, from receiving any type of formal education. According to some reports, Afghan female literacy rate is estimated to be as low as 10 percent in rural areas between the ages of 15-24. Despite the changes over the last decade, girls are still largely ignored, comprising of only one-third of all children attending school.
